From the author of the Army’s field manual on hand-to-hand combat! Matt Larsen has brought together reality-based strategies for mastering close-quarters fight situations in Modern Army Combatives Battle-Proven Techniques and Training Methods. Based on lessons gleaned from battlefields and several martial arts, and packed with photos, this book teaches the critical skills of hand-to-hand combat.

Larsen started training in the martial arts as a young Marine infantryman and later joined the Army. Holding black belts in several martial arts, Larsen eventually trained the 75th Ranger Regiment in combatives. His concepts revolutionized combatives training and the culture of the U.S. military. Modern Army Combatives is a must-have for students of self-defense and martial arts everywhere.

Modern Army Combatives BattleProven Techniques and Training Methods eBook Matt Larsen

As a BJJ Black Belt and World Champion myself who's trained for 20 years, this is the real deal. We can all talk theory and simulate combat in competition, but the lessons learned from war are unassailable. Matt Larsen has put together a work that should be required reading for every solider and citizen, who wants to defend himself and those he cares for. I can't think of any reason every person should read his work assembled here. Like the title says, these are "battle-proven techniques". Anyone pursing self defense, being a better solider and comrade, or anyone teaching either has a mandatory obligation to read this book.

The best in the business.
I was hoping for a little more advanced tactics but this is a very good starter book. Weapon retention is a MUST.
Regardless of which discipline (Combatives / Krav Maga / or Traditional Martial Arts) you teach this should be part of your reference library!!!!
Written by the founding father of MACP, Matt Larsen. He explains why this is the best fighting for soldiers to learn. Matt details the system of learning and advancing in the Army's fighting program. Every soldier, especially NCOs, should read this book. You cannot get more to the source of how to train than this book.
Great book of Army Combatives.
Good for the military, police and children at school not so good IMHO for self defence on the street. The images could be more detailed as well as the text; but it's workable.
A thousand years from now when we talk about the greatest warriors of our age we would not be talking about the UFC fighters to step into the octagon. We will be talking about the Special Operations forces the US Military. Every martial artist should know how they train and should aspire to walk as Warriors walk and train just as the Warriors train
